Finally someone noticed.

Once when I was waiting for my coffee, a woman approached me and said, “Hey, I’m sorry, I never do this, but I just had to tell you that your aura is SO STRONG.”
I was slightly taken aback. No one had ever complimented my aura before, but now that I thought about it, she was right. Flashback to when my parents told me, “Daughter, your aura shine bright like a diamond.” My aura IS strong, resplendent as the sun, glowing ablaze for anyone perceptible enough to see with their extra eyeball.
“Wow, thank you,” I said. Color rose to my cheeks, mirroring my dazzling aura. I was embarrassed, but I FELT SEEN.
“Really, it’s so strong. I swear, I never do this, but I just really wanted to let you know,” she said.
“This is crazy, what a compliment. I was just on my way to go get lunch, I’m getting my favorite burger today, so maybe that’s why my aura is so amplified.”
”Did you say ‘burger’?” She thought for a moment.
“Yea, why?”
”Now I understand,” she nodded solemnly.
”What? What?? Do you see my future or something? Will I become famous?” I asked. This was getting serious.
“Your aura is revealing itself to me. It was strong, but a little hazy. Now I see clearly,” she said as she grabbed me by my shoulders.
“Oh my god, WHAT.”
”Your aura is a CHEESEBURGER.” She looked above me and through me.
They called my name at the coffee bar. My order was ready.
I looked back at the mysterious aura-reading woman. She took my hands.
“You’re welcome, child,” she said and bowed deeply. Then she was gone.
I picked up my coffee from the bar. What a fucking weirdo, I thought to myself. My aura— a cheeseburger? My aura— an extra cheesy, truffle aioli, caramelized onions, buttered bun, juicy burger?
Well, I guess there could be worse things to have as an aura. At least, it’s not a basic bitch, one-dimensional color like pink peppercorn or grey poupon or whatever. I’m still not entirely certain what an aura is, but now I know that mine is cheeseburger. With this knowledge, I have journeyed a little further into my soul, and yes, it’s made me pretty hungry, but MORE THAN THAT! I have gained the confidence to glow unabashedly, grease and juice and all. Shine on, readers.
