Y'all. I get so excited when I'm sitting on the couch, and my cat approaches and looks up at me from the ground. She has this face like, "hi mom, can i come up now." Those big, round eyes. She might even ask in meow.
And of course, I happily arrange the blanket nicely over me so that she can come and cozy up. She'll hop up and circle about at least three times, until landing in a perfect loaf on my lap. I'll say, "Perfect landing, baby girl." And then I'll announce to my husband, "Look, I have a baby. Jealous?"
But the truth is... she is more likely to come and have cozy times when the weather is cooler. It's a pattern I have noticed. A painful realization of truth. Am I just a transmitter of heat?
'Tis the season to be jolly-- and also for wondering, "Does my cat really love me or is she just cold?"
